Dynatrace may have a minimum contract amount. According to user feedback, this minimum could be $20,000 per year. The above rates are standard rates and may vary by region, specific negotiations or volume discounts. Dynatrace uses a “Host Units” system that assigns different weightings based on host characteristics such as RAM. For example, a host with 16 GiB of RAM could count as 2 host units, which would affect the total cost.

Advantages and limitations of each solution

Pandora FMS

  • It is a complete platform flexible and without hidden costs. No hourly consumption, no surprises at the end of the month. Install it wherever you want: cloud, on-premise or hybrid. And manage everything from a single console: network, servers, applications and much more.
  • Full-stack monitoring with a single tool.
  • Includes advanced features such as RMM, log collection, remote control, asset management. All in one.
  • It allows on-premise or hybrid deployments, while Dynatrace relies on its cloud for many functions.
  • It has a fixed and predictable license versus Dynatrace’s more costly variable consumption model.
  • It is based on standard technologies that administrators are already familiar with: SNMP, WMI, SSH, agents, syslog, scripts, etc.
  • It allows the integration of existing tools without the need to relearn from scratch or change the entire stack.
  • Systems teams can reuse scripts from Nagios, Zabbix or proprietary tools with minimal customization.
  • It can monitor mixed environments that include legacy systems, mainframes industrial devices, isolated environments or environments without direct connection to the Internet.
  • It offers full REST APIs, integration with tools such as Jira, Slack, Ansible, Jenkins, and supports bi-directional connections at no additional cost.
  • Offers user experience monitoring (WUX) using navigation robots, in different architecture models, allowing remote sites.

Dynatrace

  • Provides detailed visibility into application performance at the transaction level, function calls and internal code metrics.
  • The Dynatrace console allows you to create interactive dashboards integrated with external solutions such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • It traces every user transaction across services, containers, processes and databases, in real time and without manual configuration.
  • It connects with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, and automatically detects issues after each deployment.
  • Provides visibility into actual cloud resource usage, detects inefficiencies and suggests improvements to optimize costs.
  • It has a strong presence in large global corporations, 24×7 multilingual support, and a solid partner network for training, implementation and business support.

Pandora FMS

  • Although flexible, you need to define many elements (templates, thresholds, maps, dashboards) manually at the beginning, which can lengthen deployment time compared to more automated solutions.
  • Although it can monitor processes and response times, it does not have direct visibility into internal code performance or complete transaction traces between microservices.
  • Although it has REST APIs and can integrate with tools such as Ansible or Jenkins, it is not as geared to integrate directly into CI/CD pipelines as part of the automated deployment flow.
  • Although well known in Spain and Latin America, it is less well established in markets such as the USA, Japan and Germany, which may influence global corporate decisions.

Dynatrace

  • It is mainly oriented to modern cloud environments. Its integration with legacy or network constrained environments is limited or very costly.
  • It relies on its cloud environment for many functionalities, making it difficult to use in regulated, isolated environments or with data sovereignty requirements.
  • It is necessary to adopt at a stroke your agent, your way of seeing the system, your console and your automatisms, which implies a stronger paradigm shift.
  • It also has integrations, but many are focused on your ecosystem and require adaptation to your internal data model.

Why Pandora FMS?

Pandora FMS gives you total control: deployment where you decide, clear pricing and all functionalities in a single platform. Many companies have already switched from Dynatrace to a more transparent and sustainable solution.

Lower and more predictable total cost of ownership (TCO)

Pandora FMS has a clear license and no hidden costs, with no hourly, RAM or volume charges for processed data. Dynatrace, although powerful, can quickly scale in cost as the infrastructure grows, making budget planning difficult in the medium term.

Greater control and flexibility in deployment

Pandora can be deployed on-premise, in the cloud or in SaaS (MaaS) mode, which gives total freedom according to the environment or internal policies. Dynatrace imposes its cloud as the operational center, which limits options in regulated sectors or with data sovereignty requirements.

Unified all-in-one platform, no external tools required

Pandora FMS natively includes monitoring of network, servers, applications, services, assets, RMM, alerts, inventory and ITSM, all managed from a single console. With Dynatrace, some specific functionalities or IT ops require integrations or complementary tools.

Specialized support and customer proximity

Pandora offers direct support in Spanish and English, with real support, assisted migration and a progressive adoption curve that does not require reinventing the infrastructure. This facilitates a more efficient implementation with less friction for the technical team.

Adaptability to hybrid and frictionless legacy environments

Pandora FMS easily adapts to mixed environments that combine modern infrastructure with legacy systems, industrial networks, mainframes or environments without direct internet connection. Dynatrace, although excellent in cloud-native, is not designed for scenarios where old and new technologies coexist, forcing parallel solutions or costly customizations.

Leveraging of the company’s existing know-how

Pandora uses standard technologies such as SNMP, WMI, SSH, syslog, and allows reusing scripts and procedures that the team already knows. This significantly reduces training times, accelerates the return on investment (ROI) and avoids relying on a closed model with a mandatory learning curve as with Dynatrace.

Real cases

User feedback

“Pandora FMS offers multiple tools that allow us to effectively monitor and manage our technological structure. Its platform is easy to use and adapts to our needs. In addition, the software works with a wide variety of devices and services (including servers, networks, applications and web services), making it perfect for us as internet providers, thus ensuring the availability and performance of our servers.”

Christian N. – Occupational Safety Supervisor

“When people talk about an APM solution, the first thing that comes to mind is Dynatrace. It provides a good correlation between application services and third-party API calls. Also, people looking for next-generation monitoring solutions and the product team keeps looking at and releasing those features in their versions as soon as possible. Also, code-level insights and artificial intelligence provide root cause analysis – it’s amazing.”

Enterprise User – Technology and Services

“Although it is relatively easy to use, it requires a certain level of knowledge to be able to take full advantage of it.”

Christian N. – Occupational Safety Supervisor

“Sometimes instrumenting with legacy technologies and custom applications such as C# or desktop applications makes it more complex and takes longer to investigate the problem.”

Do you still accept to pay per gigabyte, per minute and per host?

Dynatrace impresses, but their costs are growing faster than your infrastructure. Plus, you’re tied to their cloud, their consumption model and a black box that you can’t always control. Think about it: unpredictable costs, absolute dependence and little real flexibility.

With Pandora FMS you enjoy a single license, full visibility and real support when you need it.
