The Ministry of Telecommunications and the Information Society is the governing body for the development of technologies and communications in Ecuador; its areas of action range from telecommunications or the radioelectric spectrum to the coordination of actions in strategic sectors to guarantee equal access to IT services for the Ecuadorian population.

STARTING POINT

We needed to carry out a complete visual monitoring of the components of the IT services of the Undersecretariat of Electronic Government of Ecuador, since the administrators did not have a monitoring system that would allow them to receive alerts on the behavior of the infrastructure, nor to manage its components so that users would not be affected.

PROJECT’S CHALLENGE

Our main needs were to provide all our users with an optimal and uninterrupted service, manage the components, prevent infrastructure capacity, and finally, measure SLAs of agreed services.

Also, our requirements when implementing the software were based on simplicity of installation, having a knowledge base and, above all, having software that would adapt to our infrastructure in the different operating systems.

We mainly monitor web portals, databases, storage, latencies and availability, with fast alerting via Telegram bot and email.

Our biggest challenge now is to monitor the user experience to detect problems before our customers do.

Pandora FMS provides us with accurate service statistics, SLA measurements and a global monitoring of all the components of our system.

We currently have more than 150 monitored devices, including servers and networks, which make up our infrastructure.

We are also looking at implementing the Pandora FMS User Experience monitoring tool within our systems.

The implementation was very simple; first of all we set up the infrastructure to be monitored, then we installed the Pandora FMS agent in all the infrastructure and then we configured the agents, alerts, thresholds and templates to have our console ready to monitor all our systems and devices.
