SNMP v3 Configuration issue
Posted by Christophe on April 29, 2022 at 14:40Hello,
I’m using Community Pandora version 759 (and 760) and it works fine in SNMP v2 trap sent by different agents.
Now, I want to secure the traps by using the SNMP v3.
I’ve configured my agent to send them, and follow the document and set the snmptrapd.conf by adding this line :
createUser -e 0x2906EF0801E96 snmpv3user SHA mypassword AES Thisisaverygoodpassword
But it doesn’t work, as the “Thisisaverygoodpassword” is never used properly, and I can’t received any SNMP v3 with a password (be able to make it work without the “privpassword”)
May I miss something ?
Thanks for your support.

Hello Christophe,
I think that you miss to wirte “authUser” in your “snmtrapd.conf” file, you can follow this link if you need it:
Don´t forget to reboot Pandora Server after making changes, I hope it works.
Let us know if you have more issues.

Hi
What is the version of net-snmp installed in your server?
Seems that there is a problem with version 5.8
https://sourceforge.net/p/net-snmp/bugs/2947/Kind regards
