    Hi!

For many days without any news about the new version of Pandora, it’s time to give an update:

    * We have updated the Pandora description from Open Source to Free Source 😀

    * We’re busy updating all the docs related with the new version, several docs files have been released, but they are not finished yet.

    * Some small bugs have been solved in Beta1 (server and console), available at the SVN.

    * We’re are still happy to recieve new translation of Pandora Console to any language. At this moment Pandora Web Console is available in Bable – Asturian (bb) , Catalonian (ca) ,French (fr) , Latin American Spanish (es_la) , Portuguese – Brazil (pt_br) , Spanish (es) and English (en).

    Pandora 1.2 is very near!!

    Hi Raul,

I’m looking for a network monitoring system and stumbled upon your project. It look very good!

As I saw this post, a few questions arose:

    1) Open source/free source? Is it now only free-as-in-beer or am I taking your remark to serious.
    2) I want to use it in a production environment, when will version 1.2 come? How stable is the beta?

    Many thanks,
    Ger.

    Hello Vorik,

First of all, thanks for your comments about Pandora.

    1) We have a little problem with concepts years ago, we always wanted Pandora to be real Free Software, using the “free” concept used by Stallman in this concept of FreeSoftware, thats why we are using GPL for licensing. We know that there are people here in spain working in some mods of Pandora at including offering of profesional services with Pandora. No problem, its GPL 🙂

    2) It’s a beta: this means: it’s open for testing and reporting, we know that its stable but has some problems: slow performance in new graphic system, and memory leaks in DBI perl modules in Debian, but we need more feedback from users. All I can say is that Pandora 1.2beta is working in small sites without problem, if you need help to setup in major sites, please, contact us 🙂
