  • Monitoring Two Oracle instances

Posted by blacknasa on March 1, 2011 at 13:56

    Hello,

I have an issue, i wanna monitor a server with an Oracle 10g using the Pandora agent, i have two instances of Oracle running on the server, however in the Task manager they look the same , Oracle.exe , therefore i cant monitor a specific one.
in the Service manager i can see that each of them run with Oracle.exe xxx , meaning that the instance is different .

    Help,

btw i have the same issues with Monitoring iis 7 , the server creates a Poll for each site and they are all in the same number.

Have you try to detect the service running instead the process instance ?

Go to your services control panel. Do you have only one “oracle server” running or have several services, one per each instance.

Another way to monitor an oracle, at least in unix, is by using the lsnrctl status, or by monitoring specific process on your instance, probably your pmon_{SID} process running for each SID defined.
