One of the main reasons we’re testing Pandora is for the distributed capabilities. Before I go too wild in trying different things (as I’m new to this), does anyone have a clean cut, easy method for tracking workstations at multiple remote sites?

Our initial thought was to have something on one of the servers at the remote sites (like an agent) that would then track all the computers, switches, routers on the network. Then it would report all that information back to the Pandora Server that we host.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated! If I missed this in the documentation just let me know.

    Thanks!

Using tentacle we are working on a “tentacle” proxy that receives all data reported from different agents to a single point (tentacle proxy) that copies all data received to a single pandora server. At this point is not finished, but with a very simple script that implements a directory queue and sending with tentacle, you can build it in a few hours.

Another option is to use “satellite” agents, that is a single agent, who makes several tests for remote nearby systems (using commands like ping, telnet, etc) and report all tests to a pandora server.

Another option is to setup different network servers in several networks. This servers only needs connectivity to Pandora MySQL server.
