Installing Community On Windows
Posted by Toby on January 12, 2023 at 21:21I’ve searched for information about installing FMS community server on Windows and there is nothing.
All the documentation says for installing community is:
1.7.21. Install console
2. Install serverIn 1.8 it says:
If you have access to the Internet, it is recommended that you perform the installation online using this useful tool.Ok fine, but where do I find that?
Is that referring to the Enterprise installation tool?I see that there is an install.php file – but that is apparently only for Linux.
Can FMS SERVER be run on Windows? If so, is there any info on how to do it?

Hello Toby,
Pandora FMS cannot be installed in Windows as it is not supported.
Monitorization servers execute heavy load processes that require stability and low resources consumption from the system side.
In this case Linux provides more stability and consumes less resources for the program to run optimally.
The current supported systems are:
-RedHat Enterprise (RHEL) 8 (recommended)
-Rocky Linux 8
-RedHat Enterprise (RHEL) 7.X (Enterprise only)
-CentOS 7.X
-Ubuntu Server 22.04 (NG 766 version or later)Kind regards,
Sergio B.

Ok thank you!
It would be good to remove them from the Operating System list then – as I have wasted several days investigating PFMS and trying to get it to install.
“Pandora FMS does not give official support in these platforms” implies that it CAN be run on those OS’s – it’s just not supported.

You’re right, is not clear enough
We are adding this paragraph to the beginning of the install chapter in official documentation:
On which operating systems does Pandora FMS work?
Pandora FMS needs Linux for the server and the console. It is not officially supported on Windows or any other operating system such as Solaris, BSD or similar, although many of its components will work, there are advanced functionalities that will not work or will give problems and it is impossible to ensure its operation.Monitoring agents are supported for any platform, especially Microsoft Windows (all versions from Windows NT4 to the latest Windows 11), different Linux distributions (Debian, RedHat, Fedora, Centos, Mint, Suse, etc), as well as Unix (Solaris, HPUX, AIX, BSD, etc) and there is also an agent for Android devices.
