  • HowTo: Recieve HP ILO SNMP Alerts in Pandora

Posted by ChristV on January 6, 2008 at 23:14

If got all pandora servers running, snmp modules recieve data.
But now I would like to monitor hardware (system) health of a HP server with ILO (Integrated Light-Out 2).
It seems the the ILO has no full SNMP stack (= no OID for status of powersupplies,Fans,VRMs,…) to read this data.
There is a option to send snmp alerts (use for HP SIM soft) but I am wondering if it is possible to recieve these alerts in Pandora.
If yes how do I do It ❓

keep in mind snmp is new for me 😉

Pandora has got a SNMP trap console where you can recieve traps sent by any device, is that what you need?

Yes, but how do I get it working?
    snmptrapd, snmptrapfmt,snmpd is running
all pandora services are running and snmp walk is working
I have snmp modules from that server (like cpu load) that give me data

But when I send a test alert from ILO web page I nothing happens on the pandora side (SNMP console : There are no SNMP traps in database).
Do I need to configure anything else?

You have to send the snmptrap you want to appear in the pandora snmp trap recepction console to the Pandora Server machine (I mean, the IP the pandora server is running)
After that you should be able to see the trap you sent

sorry but I do not understand.

on the ILO: send snmptrap ip is set to pandora server IP

how do I get to “pandora snmp trap recepction console” is this “Pandora SNMP > SNMP Console” under “Operation” on the site? then there is nothing to configure

I do not see anything under the “administration” menu/option about snmp traps.

You need to setup first SNMP daemon, take a look at:
