Email Configuration issues in Pandora Web interface
Posted by rexshow on January 22, 2020 at 01:38I am trying to setup my email server settings in Pandora. When i input the information and hit send, it says that the message has been sent but i do not receive the message nor do i see any indication of the message being sen from the Pandora logs. I have tried enabling MTA and using Postfix but i do not see an entry in the Postfix logs for Pandora forwarding the email through it. I have tried using ssl and no encryption and also tried the mail server domain name and IP address with no success. Any help appreciated.

Hello rexshow,
From what I see the SMTP server you are using is public, it may require encryption. Check that all data entered is correct and that your server does not require encryption to work or configure it.

DiegoI have contacted my mail provider and got new settings for the connection which are shown in the image below but even with the new settings i am still unable i receive a test message from Pandora.

Hello Rexhow,
Could you tell us which version of PandoraFMS you are on? If you are in an older version you might be having problems with a bug that was fixed a few versions ago.
Greetings
DiegoI am using version v7.0NG.742_FIX_PERL2020 – Build PC200103 which should be up to date as this install of Pandora is only a week old.

Hello Rexshow,
This is rare, if your configuration is correct and you are in the latest version you should not have problems… Have you checked the spam folder in the mail? You might find the emails there. In case you don’t, could you send us a copy of your pandora_server.conf file? Maybe there you will find something that is not well configured.
Greetings
Diego. -

Hello Rexshow,
I don’t detect anything bad configured regarding Pandora FMS, I suspect that it could be that the data from the mail provider are wrong, so I recommend you to try to configure as mail server the one from google, this way we could be sure if it is a problem of Pandora FMS or of the mail provider. I leave you a link to the documentation that refers to this.

DiegoI managed to get Pandora software to send out emails using the gmail method. I then changed all of the settings from gmail to my email host and modified the header field for postfix and I am now receiveing alerts from postfix through my mail host. Thanks again for your help.

Hello John,
I can confirm you that in the version you are in there is not any bug related with the mail, I have an open version of Pandora FMS with the mail configured and it doesn’t give any problem.
Please, could you send us your console and pandora_server.conf mail configuration? It would help us to find the problem you have right now.
Could you also execute in the server the following command and send us the result?
pandora_server -h
Greetings
Diego
