  • Default value for modules when agents are out of contact

Hello all.  I was wondering if there is a way to have agent data reset to a default value, like zero, when the agent is out of contact.  Currently I’m using the agent to monitor a few Linux servers and metrics like “is DNS up?”, “how many DHCP leases are active?”, etc, but in the case of a network outage, the graphs just show the last known value, even though the agent has not updated its information in several hours.

    Appreciate the help.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I’m sorry, but PandoraFMS works like that, in case a module doesn’t receive data, it shows the last one it got, and in case enough time passes, the module goes to unknown.

What you mention I think it could be created with relative ease through a script that takes the desired metrics and these can be 0. So if any problem happens with the network this script reports 0 instead of going to unknown.

    Regards
    Diego

Thanks for the reply – I realized I can run and collect data from a server on the near side of the network link, and effect the default value of zero when the link is unavailable.
