  • Data server won’t start – error

Posted by ttlang on October 5, 2008 at 17:31

Installed Pandora FMS on Ubuntu Hardy server. Console working. Set this up at home, to learn something new.

My problem is that the Data server will not start. It begins, but runs into an error.
    Here is the error:
[ERROR] Error connecting database in init Phase. Aborting startup.

DBI connect(‘pandora:localhost:3306′,’pandora’,…) failed: Access denied for user ‘pandora’@’localhost’ (using password: YES) at /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/PadoraFMS/Config.pm line 518
Cannot start Pandora FMS Data Server. Aborted.

I had gone into the /etc/pandora/pandora_server.conf during the installation and commented out the password line.

After I received this error I went back in there and changed it back to it’s default – pandora. That didn’t help as I still get the error.

Not sure what I need to do now.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have to put the correct password.
The password is generated during the WebConsole installation and it is shown while the console is correctly installed. Although if you missed it, you can find it at: /var/www/pandora/include/config.php in the firsts lines.

    Cheers

    Thanks manu.
I don’t have that directory or config file. I tried the mysql password and that didn’t work either.

I have reinstalled the server and am going to start all over.

Is there anything I need to do to make sure I know the password? When, and what file, in the installation do I edit to get the password to work?
