  • Can’t get Pandora to send via external email

I can’t seem to get Pandora to send alerts through our in-house relay.

In pandora_server.conf, I have the following

    # mta_address: External Mailer (MTA) IP Address to be used by Pandora FMS internal email capabilities

    mta_address mail.server.com

    # mta_port, this is the mail server port (default 25)

    mta_port 8025

    # mta_user MTA User (if needed for auth, FQD or simple user, depending on your server)

    mta_user [email protected]

    # mta_pass MTA Pass (if needed for auth)

    mta_pass *************

    # mta_auth MTA Auth system (if needed, it supports LOGIN, PLAIN, CRAM-MD5, DIGEST-MD)

    mta_auth LOGIN

I can see the server sending the alerts via the logs but nothing ever gets sent. I’ve checked the firewall and just about everything else.  It works fine from localhost.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Dan,

could you tell me which Pandora’s version and operating system are you using?

Please check the alert detail (manage monitoring > manage agents [select agent] > alerts > view advanced alert details > select action), there you can see if the action parameters are well configurated(destination address).

If everything it´s ok, set your MTA IP address instead of the domain (if it´s in the local area) in pandora_server.conf.

    Regards.

I am running Pandora FMS Build;PC150427 Pandora FMS Version;5.1SP2.  Latest updates have been applied.  I am running on CentOS

In the alert templates, under conditions, I have the default action set to a Mail to action that I defined in Actions.

    Thank you in advance.

Ok, could you send me a screenshot with the alert details?

Sometimes the default alert action “Mail to XXX” doesn´t work correctly. So try to define a new alert action like “Mail to XXX” (copy it and then edit the copy), and set the field 1 “destination address” with your mail address.

    Regards.

No it does not.  I’m in it now checking the logs to see if it fired or not.  I have other systems such as Dell Open Manage and Spiceworks using the same email address and authentication, so I know that works.  When set to localhost, it works just fine.  The email I am using feeds into our ticketing system to auto-generate and assign work tickets, so I would like to use that.

    Hi Dan,

it seems like the action and the alert configuration are ok. I have seen you have warning messages in your screenshots. It’s an exclamation icon at top of the screen. It’s possible you have an incorrect configuration in the server. Please check this warnings and send me a screenshot with the messages.

    Regards.

The flashing alert is for me not changing the default password.

I went over everything, I still cannot get this to work at all.  What am I missing?  Should I start over with a clean install?

    Thank you

I do, also have a problem with getting the Pandora on CentOS appliance, to send emails fired by alerts, using the external, internet server. The server my company is using is the one of our ISP. I have created the email account specifically for this purpose. Here are the parameters for this emal server:

    SMTP server hostname: mail.myisp.com
    SMTP port: 25
    Username: [email protected]
    The server uses STARTTLS

Can someone send me correct pandora_server.conf and/or postfix main.cf mta parameters, so I could get alerts to work, please?!
