The Satellite Server works in both Windows® and GNU/Linux (recommended), and has some features that make it special, more than recommended in certain environments.
It can run network tests (ICMP, Latency and SNMP v1 and v2) at an extremely high rate (500 checks per second).
In network systems with SNMP it detects the state of the interfaces, incoming and outgoing traffic for each interface, and the name of the system.
It has an auto-discovery mechanism for SNMP and WMI, so that it creates the detected agents (by IP address), detects the dynamic elements (network interfaces, storage) and monitors them automatically (in Windows® systems it detects disks, CPU and memory).
