  • FTP transfers from agent to pandora server?

    Posted by eric-butler on April 22, 2006 at 07:26

First of all, thanks to all the contributors to the project. Pandora is a very impressive piece of software.

I am configuring version 1.2b1 on WinXP. I have succeeded at installing mysql and the webconsole, now I am moving on the the Agents and the Server. On the document “Installing Pandora 1.2 Beta – Quick Guide” there is a mentioning of using FTP to transfer data from the agents to the pandora server but that it’s not documented. Is anyone aware of the setting to use http://FTP….maybe a sample pandora_agent.conf for the Windows agent would be helpful?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Really, transfer the data by FTP is possible but you must modify the script. In Unix Agent you must change the scp command for ftp command, in windows is mor complicate.
    Is it essentiaql for you?
    Bye

Have you considered the option of running a linux agent on Windows using a cygwin enviroment ?, this is very possible and easy, but not documented. Currently Pandora Windows Agent is been fully rewriten in C and will be released in two months, but while, you could use the old windows agent (1.1), code is Windows Scripting language (VBS,WSH) and very easy to alter. Its possible to create a automated script for use FTP in file transfer instead call to Putty SCP command. In unix systems you must create a .netrc script, in windows I dont exactly how, but I know that its possible because I have used it some time ago, you need to alter pandora agent script and create a FTP script to automate FTP transfers. Other possibility is to use TFTP protocol, for example.
