  • Doubts about Time Threshold for Alerts

Posted by Giuseppe Paolo on May 18, 2023 at 20:42

    Hello!!

I have some doubts about time threshold and how is the best way to configure alerts on PandoraFMS:

1 – In “Configure Alert Action” have “Threshold”, how it works?

2 – In “Templates”, second step, have “Time Threshold”, how it works too?

3 – When I create a Alert, show “Threshold” too… How it works?

I need to do this situation: I created one alert to check “unknown”, but trigger the alert after 5 minutes about the unknown status, but here is triggering about 1 minute…

Would you help me about my questions?

    Thanks,

    Giuseppe Paolo Fontana Padilha

Hello @Serber thanks for your reply, but it is still not clear to me…

Can you give me an example to trigger 3 alerts, with an interval of about 5 minutes, using action threshold of 1 minute?

Eg: Unknown alert: ignore the first trigger, until 5 minutes, then send the first alert, pass 5 minutes, send the 2nd alert and the same for the 3rd.

I tried this, but it didn’t work:

    Action Threshold: 1 minute

Template: Threshold 5 minutes with “min alerts 5” and “max alerts 20”

    Alert: threshold 0 second

    Thank you in advance,

    Giuseppe Paolo Fontana Padilha

    Hello Giuseppe,

It will all depend on the interval of the Agent where the module sits in. Assuming you have a 5 minutes interval in the Agent…

Then in order to ignore the 1st alert and only alert on the 2nd time that the module reports unknown you need to set in the template of the alert, the Min number of alerts to 2 (We will attach an example image)

This will tell the server that in order to trigger the alert it needs to receive the unknown status at least 2 times.

The Time Threshold of the template tells you how many times should you be alerted when the unknown module is still unknown.

Eg: If you set the Time Threshold of the template to 1 day, you will only be alerted once each day about the module being unknown, once it triggered the first alert of the day, you won’t get another one until 24hrs. In case you still want to be alerted every hour, or every 30 minutes you can set it there.

    Kind regards,

    Sergio B.
