  • Question about self_monitoring pandora_server.conf

Posted by Luca on July 21, 2026 at 11:56

    Hello Team,

I have a question about the self_monitoring parameter in the pandora_server.conf file.

I’d like to know how the checks for each module are actually carried out in the pandora.internals agent. For example, I have the “Alert_Server_Status” check showing as red but what exactly does the server do to determine whether this check is set to 1 or 0?

    Thanks for the support

    Luca

    Hello Luca,

The pandora.internals agent checks for everything relevant related to the Pandora FMS Server itself.

In this case, the Alert Server Status module checks if the Alert Server is up or down.

If the server is up, the module goes green, if it’s down, it goes critical (red).

Bear in mind that we had a bug in older versions with that particular module where even if the Alert Server was up, the module still showed critical.

Anyhow the fact that this module shows critical won’t affect at all the functionality of the Server or the Alerts.

    Kind regards,
    Sergio B.

        Hello Luca,

You can check whether the Alert Server is up by going into the Servers View in Management > Servers > Manage Servers, there you will see if the Alert Server is active within the server’s list.

You can also check the status of the alert server within the pandora_server.conf file in the parameter alertserver if it’s set to 0, the server is currently off, if it’s set to 1, the server should be on.

        Kind regards,
        Sergio B.
