  • Recon Server not finding devices

    Posted by gabriel-m on December 17, 2013 at 01:15

Im running Pandora 4.0.3 and pretty much work everything is working fine; however, whe I run a recon task pandora doesn’t find any devices. I use standard parameters, different networks and task after task it wont discover any  device. My question is, is it any way of testing the recon server functionality.?

Not sure if it would help but this is what i found on my logs

    Can’t return outside a subroutine at /usr/share/pandora_server/util/recon_scripts/snmpdevices.pl line 153.

    Hi

The problem is the Network configuration. If you need to recon the Network 192.168.254.X, you need you set this: 192.168.254.0/24. If you need the network 192.168.X.X ( 192.168.0.0/16).

    Regards

Probably the recon server is stuck doing the recon, you need to refresh, and if cannot refresh, try restarting the server.

Anyway, be advised, running recon under vmware workstation, virtualbox and parallels sometimes report nasty reports. Using xen, or ESX works fine.

Reviewing your screenshot I found why.

You pick the OS to match to “Foundry”… this usually doesn’t work very well (it doesnt depend on pandora, the best OS fingerprinting tools have an important % of err), it works on some “basic” OS like Linux, Windows and Solaris, but not with network equipment, and if you’ve added your custom OS definitely it won’t work. Put there “Any” and you will see your network populated for sure.
