Trigger an alert when losing agent contact
Posted by ivanhoe on January 5, 2010 at 16:44Is it possible to configure an alert if an agent doesn’t send/update any data during a certain amount of time. For example, if the agent doesn’t send any (synchronous) data in 30 minutes.
I’ve experienced some difficulties to identify a problem when the remote host is OK (respond to ping, tcp ports, …) but the agent doesn’t send any data (see attached img)
One more question:
Is it possible to trigger an alert if any of the pandora servers doesn’t start (Data, Network, Recon, etc.)? I’d be really useful to identify problems.Thank you in advance!

First question: Yes, read more about the special module called “keepalive”; it’s just for that, BUT is not compatible with doing remote “keepalive” (using ping, for example) because it will change to critical status (keepalive module) ONLY if all agent has no contact in interval x 2 seconds.
Second question: Yes, use the “extra” tool called pandor_watchdog, see more at:

(Note that this is for 3.0 but could be easily adapted to work on 2.x servers)
Happy new year ! 🙂
