    HELP!

I have downloaded this VMWare image and am trying to get it to run under ESX 3… I keep getting errors about not being able to start the machine. I narrowed it down to (I think) needing the vmdk to be SCSI and not IDE. How did others get this installed in ESX?

Several people have posted here they have it running under ESX so it is pretty strange you didn’t sort it out.
I have no idea how to install it in a ESX server, so let’s hope for an ESX user to show up 🙂

I believe, if the initial configuration was created with ide drive, there was no chance to convert the image. The best way is, create the next vmware image with scsi drives.

    Hi guys.

I have pandora running in my ESX server, but I’m not running the image. I installed the vmware from scratch (CentOS) and installed pandora (still at 2.0 version).

In the VM i used SCSI and everything is fine.

    Regards.

The downloaded version of VMware needs converting.

You need to download VMWare converter standalone client. Then convert the file and sent it to you esx server.

I have it running on ESX 4 but can’t get it to work using a tcp port other than port 80.

That’s because the firewall included in the image.

To disable use YAST setup tool in command line:

    yast

    Hi!
i’m testing pandora in vmware host and now need testing on a vmware server.

      i made this:

    – upload the vmdk and the vmx files to the esx4
    – ssh to esx or under console use this commands to convert the vmdk file:
    vmkfstools -i <"original pandora vmdk file".vmdk> <"new vmdk file".vmdk>
    – on vclient add to inventary the pandora.vmx and edit properties, remove the network adapter and the add a new network adapter.
-turn on the virtual machine and enjoy!

    —————————-
    Hola!
    hice esto:

-subir los archivos vmdk hacia el esx4
    – via ssh o en la consola usar el siguiente comando para convertir el archivo vmdk
    vmkfstools -i <"original pandora vmdk file".vmdk> <"new vmdk file".vmdk>
-en vclient añadir al inventario el archivo vmx (ambos deben llevar el mismo nombre)
editar las propieadades para quitar y luego añadir un adaptador de red y listo.

    saludos desde Chile!
